Faith at Home

"Faith at Home" refers to the intentional cultivation of spiritual practices within the context of family life. It recognizes the family as a vital locus for the transmission of religious beliefs, values, and practices. At Calvary, we believe that faith formation begins at home, where parents are called to be the primary teachers and models of faith for their children. This concept is rooted in the biblical mandate found in Deuteronomy 6:6-7, which instructs parents to impress God's commandments on their children and talk about them when they sit at home, walk along the road, lie down, and get up.

Faith At Home

Family Worship: Regular family worship provides an opportunity for families to come together to pray, read Scripture, and engage in meaningful discussions about faith. This practice helps reinforce the importance of God’s presence in everyday life and strengthens family bonds.

Bible Study and Devotions: Families are encouraged to engage in regular Bible study and devotional time together. This may involve reading through Scripture passages, discussing their meaning, and applying them to daily life situations. Through these practices, families deepen their understanding of God’s Word and its relevance to their lives.

Prayer: Prayer is a central component of “Faith at Home.” Families are encouraged to pray together, both individually and together, lifting up their joys, concerns, and thanksgivings to God. Prayer cultivates a sense of dependence on God and fosters a spirit of gratitude and trust within the family.

Service and Outreach: “Faith at Home” extends beyond the boundaries of the family unit to encompass service and outreach to others. Families are encouraged to participate in acts of service and compassion, both within their local community and beyond. This practice instills values of generosity, compassion, and social responsibility in children and helps them understand the importance of living out their faith in tangible ways.
